Welcome!

The mission of the Equine Genetics and Genomics Research Group is to use advanced genetic and genomic technologies to improve our understanding of equine health and biology.

Our goals are:

  • to use state-of-the-art molecular genetics and genomics tools to study complex genetic disease, physiological variation and genetic diversity in equine populations.
  • to generate knowledge that will enable veterinarians to better predict, diagnose, and treat disease.
  • to improve the health of companion animals, livestock, and humans through the use of the horse as a biomedical model.
  • to engage in collaborative research efforts with other researchers, veterinarians, and horse owners to address relevant needs of the equine community.
